You’re slaving away in school, and the light at the end of the tunnel is a diploma. To graduate is grand, but your real mission is getting a job.

You’ve got to work while you’re in school to pay your bills, but you don’t want to waste your time in a job that doesn’t help you get to your end goals. Nothing will set you apart from your peers like real-world work experience. Let’s take a look at what kind of student jobs will be best for the top four undergraduate majors.

1.       Business: Who wants to be a millionaire? You do.  A business major means you’re highly motivated and driven by success. You probably love numbers, and you know that everything depends on the bottom line. Jobs in sales and management positions will give you the experience you’re looking for.

2.       Psychology: A part-time customer service job can really give you a window to the soul of strangers. If you want to know what it feels like to get into clinical counseling, ask any customer service representative and they’ll tell you it takes a healthy dose of patience and a listening ear to succeed.

3.       Education: Internships and student teaching typically come much later in an education curriculum. Daycare jobs and jobs working with kids will allow you to get real classroom experience. It’s an additional notch on your belt and a line on your resume that not everyone will have.
