10 qualities employers are looking for
The top 10 qualities employers look for in teen workers.
If you’ve been in the working world for a while, you know that every employer is different. Some bosses demand that you do exactly what they say; others don’t mind if you take a creative approach to getting your job done. Some bosses are cool with extended lunch breaks; some bosses will pitch a fit if you’re five minutes late.
Regardless, there are a few qualities that almost every employer wants to see in their teenaged and student workers. Here are the top 10:
1. Honest: If you make a mistake, fess up.
2. Enthusiastic: At least try to act like you’re happy to be at work.
3. Motivated: If you see something that needs to be done, don’t wait for your boss to tell you to do it.
4. Punctual: Late once? That’s okay. Late for the tenth time? It’ll probably be your last day at work.
5. Reliable: Be there when you’re needed.
6. Persistent: Didn’t get it right the first time? No whining. Try again.
7. Flexible: When things don’t go according to plan, do your best to deal.
8. Helpful: Don’t wait for a customer to ask for assistance - step in and help out.
9. Well-groomed: You represent the company. Wash your ears and trim your toenails every now and then.
10. Respectful: Treat your manager and your coworkers with respect. Save the attitude for later.
